DO YOU HAVE A FORGED OR QUESTIONED DOCUMENT?

Call Beth Chrisman 310-910-3993

If you have a forged or questioned document, I am here to help.

As a forensic document examiner and handwriting expert, I provide forensic document examination, handwriting analysis, forgery investigation, and expert witness services for attorneys, businesses, and private individuals throughout the United States and worldwide.

Case may involve questioned signatures, altered documents, handwriting identification, anonymous writings, forged checks, contracts, wills, trusts, deeds, prenuptial agreements, medical and dental records, lease agreements, employment documents, and other disputed or questioned writings. Examinations have also included disguised handwriting, anonymous letters and envelopes, threatening correspondence, and graffiti-related matters.

Over the course of my career, I have worked on cases involving business and contract disputes, insurance fraud, embezzlement, probate litigation, family law matters, landlord-tenant disputes, employment issues, elder abuse investigations, and questioned medical and financial documentation.

In addition to conducting forensic examinations, I consult with attorneys regarding case strategy, document evidence, and expert review, and provide testimony in trials, hearings, depositions, and arbitrations in both state and federal matters.

Some clients seek answers simply to better understand the authenticity of a document, while others require detailed forensic analysis and testimony in preparation for litigation. Every matter is approached with professionalism, objectivity, and careful attention to detail.

If you believe a forensic document examiner may assist in your matter, contact my office for a confidential initial consultation. You will receive straightforward communication, an honest assessment of your situation, and clear guidance regarding the examination process and next steps.

Over 215 Testimonies

This testimony experience provides valuable insight into the preparation, examination, and presentation of questioned document evidence. While many cases resolve before trial, every matter should be approached with the expectation that it may ultimately be presented in court. Thus, careful examination, documentation, and case preparation are essential to ensuring professional and reliable forensic analysis.

Trained, Experienced & Certified by IADE

Privately trained by an experienced forensic document examiner and remains committed to continuing education and professional development through specialized coursework, annual conferences, professional organizations, and current publications relating to questioned document examination and handwriting analysis.

Fee Structure and Turn-Around Time

Fees are based on the specific circumstances and complexity of each matter, including the number of documents involved, the availability of original documents, and whether reports, declarations, or testimony are required. I am committed to providing professional forensic document examination services with clear communication, reasonable turnaround times, and straightforward case management.

Has a document been altered with the intent to defraud?

Are you a victim of forgery or identity theft?

Do you need an expert witness on a forged questioned document?

While the majority of my case examinations are questioning the validity of a signature, there are many other questions I answer for clients.

Is the signature an original?

Have two different inks been used to create a document?

Has the document been altered?

Has part of the document been obliterated/erased?

Was the signature traced on the document?

Is the signature a transferred signature aka cut-and-pasted?

If you have a question that falls outside the typical examination of documents, please ask me about it. If it is something my office does not handle, I will help with a referral.

Do you think you need a forensic document examiner?

Would you like to just talk to an expert about a questioned document?

Would you like a professional to answer your concerns?

The initial consultation is designed to help determine the needs and circumstances of your specific matter. During this discussion, potential conflicts may be addressed, the types of documents required for examination can be explained, and any additional materials that may need to be gathered will be identified. This consultation may also help determine whether original documents should be scheduled for in-person examination and discuss anticipated time frames for the case.

Because a forensic document opinion can significantly influence litigation strategy, settlement decisions, and court proceedings, opinions are not formed from a quick visual review or brief glance at documents. Proper forensic document examination requires careful analysis, comparison, evaluation, and sufficient time devoted to the evidence.

If documents are emailed before retention, they may be reviewed solely to determine whether there appears to be sufficient material for examination or whether the copy quality may be adequate for analysis. An “official opinion” is not rendered during a preliminary consultation or from a cursory review of emailed documents.

I understand that questioned document matters are often stressful, personal, and legally significant. Clients and attorneys are encouraged to discuss the details of their matter, ask questions about the examination process, and disclose any unusual circumstances that may be relevant to the case.
